Dr. Beal

Dr. Camille Ramos-Beal was born in Manila, Philippines before immigrating to the United States. She grew up in Pasadena, California and earned her undergraduate degree from Mt. St. Mary’s University with a Liberal Studies major and French minor.  Dr. Beal taught 7th, 8th, 9th grade ELA, ELD I, II, III, French I,  French II and Project Based Learning.  She has served as Village Academy’s principal for the past 4 years but has worked as a teacher and an administrator in Pomona and in London, UK for a total of 20 years. Dr. Beal is the principal of Village Academy and the program director for the Health Career Ladder at Western University of Health Sciences. Dr. Beal earned her master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Southern California. She is passionate about systems building, student learning, and equity.  A quote that best represents her educational philosophy is “Education, then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is a great equalizer of the conditions of men” ~ Horace Mann

Mr. TanAlbert Tan, Assistant Principal at Village Academy, was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Southern California in 2000.  He has served at Village Academy since 2019 and has worked as an administrator at both Fremont Academy and Pantera Elementary school for seven years.  Prior to his move into school administration, he was both a teacher of mathematics and the AVID coordinator at Garey High school for six years. Mr. Tan attended the University of Michigan, graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Bachelors of Science, and went on to work in nuclear electricity generation before transitioning to the field of education with a Master’s degree in Education from Claremont Graduate University.

 Whether through success or failure, Mr. Tan enjoys that critical moment when learning occurs, and growth takes root in the minds of everyone with the capacity to learn.  He is purpose-driven to provide support for everyone who walks through the hallways of knowledge. “The meaning of life is to find your gift.  The purpose of life is to give it away.” Pablo Picasso

Ali Avila has been the office manager at Village Academy High School since 2017 and has worked for Pomona Unified School district for 16 years as of 2021.  She grew up in Pomona and attended Westmont Elementary School, Fremont Middle School, Garey High School and Cal Poly Pomona.  Ali has served as a board member of the Latino organization, LEAP (Latino Educational Association of Pomona) since 2017.  The organization promotes educational opportunities for Latino/Latina students, while developing the mindset that’s focused on success for students in the Pomona Unified School District.  LEAP’s mission is to mentor and empower Latino/Latina students through educational and cultural opportunities while creating programs that promote academia.  Her professional passion is to help students see the value of cultural heritage.  In her free time Ali enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
